Horrific Deaths in Persia
After they were arrested for encouraging Christians who were in prison, Jonah was dismembered, scalded and crushed to death in a press, and Berikjesu, after having long splinters driven into his flesh, was killed by having burning pitch poured down his throat. Each had been tortured and told that the other had renounced his faith, but they would not yield.
Also known as Jonas and Barichisius, they died in the persecution of the Sassanid Persian king Shapur II.
