“He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
Psalm 121:3-4
Job Chittilappilly (2004)
Hindu Extremists
On 28 August 2004 Job, an elderly Indian church leader, was stabbed to death on the veranda of his home in the state of Kerala, south India. He had received a number of threatening phone calls because of his ministry among Hindus before he was murdered. Nothing was stolen from his house, and crime investigators said that it was most likely to have been a deliberate execution.
Christians in India face much persecution from Hindu extremists. At the time of Job’s murder, there were four attacks by Hindu extremists in the space of seven days.
I bind unto myself today
The power of God to hold and lead,
His eye to watch, his might to stay,
His ear to harken to my need.
The wisdom of my God to teach
His hand to guide, his shield to ward;
The word of God to give me speech,
His heavenly host to be my guard.
Patrick of Ireland (fl. 5th century)
