He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Revelation 21:4
Indonesian Christians (2001)
Thousands Killed
A Christian on Ambon Island, Indonesia, was shot in the neck and killed on 10 February 2001 as he was going to pick fruit. Six days later, another Christian was also shot and killed in a similar incident. Their only “wrong” was their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Over 9,000 Indonesians are believed to have died in anti-Christian violence in the province of Maluku, of which Ambon is the capital, between January 1999 and February 2001. The terrorist group Laskar Jihad was responsible for most of the deaths that occurred. Their intention was to end the Christian presence in that part of Indonesia, primarily by genocidal killing and forced eviction. This campaign of terror left people uprooted, homeless and lonely with as many as half a million refugees created.
Oh Maluku
A thousand islands
Tragedy from Ambon town
All the way to Halmahera
Blood stained tears
Oh, Lord help us.
Burned from Tolebo town
All the way to Morotai
Clothed in smoke and fire
Oh Lord help us.
Oh, Oh Lord reveal Your power
To us the children of the Lord
In our refugee camps.
Oh, Oh Lord reveal Your love
To us the children of the Lord
In our grief and sorrow.
