Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2
Bahram Dehqani-Tafti (1980)
Victim of the Revolution
Bahram’s father was a bishop of the Episcopal Church in Iran, who left the country because of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. There was no place for Christianity in the new Islamic Republic, and a harsh crackdown on the Church later ensued. Despite this, Bahram chose to remain in his homeland. On the afternoon of 6 May 1980, after leaving college, Bahram was driving home when he was stopped by two men in a car. They got into his vehicle and forced him to drive to a secluded location, where they shot him and fled the scene. The murderers were members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Let us pray: In the Church, with the Church, for the Church.
For there are three things that preserve the Church and belong to the Church:
Firstly: to teach faithfully.
Secondly: to pray constantly.
Thirdly: to suffer reverently.
Martin Luther (1483-1546)
